Please welcome Asim Aijaz, M.D. to the Advanced Pain Care practice.

Dr. Aijaz is a Pain Management physician who resides in the beautiful city of Austin, and previously lived in both New York City and Little Rock, Arkansas.

Dr. Aijaz completed his Pain management fellowship from St. Vincent University Medical Center in New York, NY. From 2007-2008, and completed his MD and anesthesiology residency while at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR from 1998-2007. Dr. Aijaz obtained a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, and achieved Summa Cum Laude honors as a graduate from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock 1998.

After exploring other pain practices in the area, Dr. Aijaz has returned “home” to Advanced Pain Care where he began his career as a pain specialist from 2008 – 2010. Over the past eight years, Dr. Aijaz also worked at Texas Pain Management Institute (2018 – 2019), Austin Pain Associates (2011 – 2017), and Pain Center Austin (2010 – 2011).

Dr. Aijaz is married with one child, and enjoys spending time with his wonderful family, working out, playing basketball and disc golf, hiking, reading, eating, riding motorcycles (when he’s allowed to!), and watching live music. During his training, he participated in two medical mission trips; one to Guatemala and another to Ghana where he worked with a team to provide medical care to under-served populations. He aspires to be able to do more activities like this in the future.

When asked what he likes about his job, city, people, etc., Dr. Aijaz stated: “I love Austin for its outdoor activities, weather (in the fall and winter), friendly people, great food, wonderful scenery, and outrageous pollen levels. I love pain management because I can see and appreciate the changes I can make in my patients’ lives. My first exposure to the specialty was in residency. Seeing how I could ease a patient’s symptoms and watch them make a recovery back to their previous functional levels and improve their social interactions with their family and friends really made me feel like this was the career for me. I find it to be a very rewarding and fulfilling career. I really cannot imagine doing anything else. Additionally, with it being a newer field of medicine, seeing the advances in medications and technology to better help our patients has been fascinating.”

We are excited to have him join our team of pain management experts at Advanced Pain Care!
