Mark T. Malone, M.D., is a Board Certified pain specialist and a native Texan. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and went on to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Malone attended Baylor College of Medicine for residency and training in anesthesiology, and then completed a pain management fellowship at Texas Orthopedic Hospital in 1998.
Prior to founding Advanced Pain Care in 2002, Dr. Malone was a member of an Austin-based group practice for twelve years, and a clinical instructor at Baylor College of Medicine for six years. He is double board-certified in anesthesiology and pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology, with a sub-specialty in pain management; this is the only board certification for pain management endorsed by the American Board of Medical Specialties. In 2017 Dr. Malone was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery and Perioperative Care at UT Dell Medical School.
Dr. Malone is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Spinal Intervention Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the Travis County Medical Society. He has successfully treated thousands of patients suffering from acute and chronic pain. He and his wife, Tracy, live in Austin with their three children. In his spare time, he enjoys water-skiing, cycling, and travel.

Specialist Bio
Dr. Matthew Hellman is a double board-certified, Harvard-trained interventional pain management physician and anesthesiologist. He was born in Northern Virginia and he attended Duke University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in science and engineering while studying biomedical engineering. Dr. Hellman offers quality, comprehensive pain management care for his Kyle, TX patients to ensure the best possible results.
Education and Training
Dr. Hellman graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine before moving to Boston for his anesthesiology residency at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in interventional pain medicine at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital, ranked the top hospital in the country by US News and World Report. During his education and training, Dr. Hellman worked with the United States Department of Defense and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research by programming artificial intelligence software using pattern recognition algorithms to detect and diagnose early exposure to pathogens and biological weapons. He also has created phone apps on both Apple and Android devices to help anesthesiologists manage patients with pacemakers during their surgical procedures. Dr. Hellman has presented at the American Society of Anesthesiologists national meeting and was an instructor at the Harvard Anesthesiology Ultrasound Guided Regional Workshop, where he educated attending anesthesiologists.
Skills and Specialties
By incorporating the latest technology into his multimodal treatment plan that he develops with his patients to treat pain, Dr. Hellman understands that each patient deserves a specialized plan. He treats a variety of painful conditions including but not limited to headache and migraine pain, knee, hip, shoulder, joint pain, neck, back, spine pain, failed back surgery syndrome, vertebral fractures, abdominal and pelvic pain, upper and lower extremity pain, sciatica, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), neuropathy, diabetic foot pain, and pain after knee replacement. He also incorporates advanced techniques such as spinal cord stimulation, kyphoplasty, bone marrow transplants, ultrasound-guided blocks, sympathetic blocks, sacroiliac joint fusion, and radiofrequency ablations into his treatment plans.
Personal
In his spare time, Dr. Hellman enjoys spending time with his wife and his dog and likes paddle boarding, working out, hiking,running, and all of the outdoor activities that Central Texas has to offer. He is an avid football, hockey, and college basketball fan and also enjoys the local restaurant scene and food tastings.
