Our Pain Care Physicians
Mark T. Malone, M.D., is a Board Certified pain specialist and a native Texan. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and went on to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Malone attended Baylor College of Medicine for residency and training in anesthesiology, and then completed a pain management fellowship at Texas Orthopedic Hospital in 1998.
Prior to founding Advanced Pain Care in 2002, Dr. Malone was a member of an Austin-based group practice for twelve years, and a clinical instructor at Baylor College of Medicine for six years. He is double board-certified in anesthesiology and pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology, with a sub-specialty in pain management; this is the only board certification for pain management endorsed by the American Board of Medical Specialties. In 2017 Dr. Malone was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery and Perioperative Care at UT Dell Medical School.
Dr. Malone is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Spinal Intervention Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the Travis County Medical Society. He has successfully treated thousands of patients suffering from acute and chronic pain. He and his wife, Tracy, live in Austin with their three children. In his spare time, he enjoys water-skiing, cycling, and travel.
Dr. Michael Balderamos is a fellowship trained Pain Management Physician and a native Texan. Originally from Fort Worth, TX, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Dallas before attending the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Balderamos completed his Anesthesiology residency at the University of Nebraska and then completed a Pain Management fellowship at the University of Washington, home of the world’s first multidisciplinary pain clinic and birthplace of modern pain medicine.
Dr. Balderamos is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Medical Association. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, long-distance running, and spending time with his family. He is thrilled to be returning home to Texas and joining the Amarillo community.
Dr. Andre Chen is a Board Certified Addiction Medicine specialist in Austin, TX. Originally from Maryland, he earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin, Doctor of Medicine at the University of Maryland, and Masters of Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin. His completed his residency training at the Central Texas Medical Foundation (Brackenridge Hospital) in Austin.
Prior to becoming an Addiction Medicine specialist, he practiced Family Medicine at the Austin Diagnostic Clinic for over 20 years and was listed in Austin Monthly magazine as a Top Doctor in 2015 and 2017. He is board certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) and American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). As an avid software developer, he has developed several clinical apps in the iPhone/iPad App Store.
Dr. Chen focuses on substance use disorders as medically treatable conditions in the same way that diabetes or hypertension are. His primary goal at Advanced Pain Care is to ensure that patients with chronic pain conditions can safely and effectively receive the best treatment possible. Dr Chen is here to help patients who suffer from loss of control of opioid pain medication, compulsive use of pain medication, craving pain medication, overdose, problem drinking, nicotine use.
Brad Culling, D.O., is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Management physician. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Culling graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. While at Southwestern University, he was an integral member of the men’s baseball team. He completed Osteopathic medical school at Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida graduating at the top of his class. He went on to complete his residency training in Anesthesiology at the University of New Mexico where he served as the chief resident of his program. Dr. Culling spent an additional year of training at the University of Texas in San Antonio in a multidisciplinary pain fellowship program.
Dr. Culling has been trained in all facets of chronic pain medicine. He understands that chronic pain is a complex disease process that can affect many aspects of a person’s life. He is trained in multiple interventional pain techniques including spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal pumps, sympathetic blocks, joint injections, head and neck blocks, epidural injections, and ultrasound guided peripheral nerve blocks.
In his spare time Dr. Culling enjoys exercising, golfing, spending time with his friends and family, and playing with his dogs.
Allen L. Dennis is a Board Certified Pain Management and Anesthesiology physician residing in Austin, Texas. Dr. Dennis graduated from The School of Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX in June 2005. He received his graduate degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX and his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, TX in 1999.
Before joining Advanced Pain Care, Dr. Dennis most recently worked in pain management at the Center for Spine Care in Dallas, TX. While working in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Dr. Dennis received the Patient’s Choice Award as well as the Five Star Service Award from Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine. Dr. Dennis is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, among other medical professional associations. He specializes in comprehensive pain management including chronic headaches, spinal pain, neuropathy, and cancer pain. His goal is to provide his patients with the maximum quality of life possible.
Dr. Allen Dennis is a proud Texan who loves being in Central Texas. He is married with three children, and his daughter and two sons are actively involved in band. In his free time, Allen enjoys kayaking, boating, and enjoying wildlife.
Dr. Rizwan Khan is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Board Certified Pain Management doctor. He received his doctorate from University of North Texas Health Sciences Center in Fort Worth, Texas. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Texas at Houston, which is part of the Texas Medical Center. The University of Miami was where Dr. Khan went on to do his Pain Management fellowship.
Dr. Khan recently moved from a thriving practice in Houston to work in the Greater Waco area. While in Houston, Dr. Khan was recognized as a “Top Doc” in Anesthesia and Pain Management by the Houstonia Magazine.
Dr. Khan’s interest in pain management and anesthesia started shortly after high school while serving in the U.S. military. Helping people live more functional and productive lives is why Dr Khan loves being a Pain Management physician. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
Paul H. Le, MD has been practicing pain medicine in Austin since 2010 and is excited to be joining Advanced Pain Care. He is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Management physician. Dr. Le graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology, and continued on to The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas to receive his Doctor of Medicine degree. He then completed his residency training in Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago Illinois before returning to Texas.
Dr. Le is a warm and compassionate physician. He finds joy in getting to know his patients; their history, previous treatments, and long-term goals. He utilizes the team approach to reach the best outcomes. There is nothing more fulfilling to him than improving a person's quality of life.
Outside of the clinic, you can find him at a yoga studio, running around Town Lake, or at a concert downtown. But the majority of his home life is spent with his dogs, Oliver and Louie, and his fiancee.

Ryan Michaud is a Board Certified physician in Anesthesia and Pain Management and did his Interventional fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He received his medical diploma from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2006. He completed his Anesthesia Residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque from 2006 to 2010. Before joining Advanced Pain Care, Dr. Ryan Michaud worked in a private practice in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is a member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, American Pain Society, International Society of Interventional Pain, American Society of Anesthesiologist and Texas Medical Association. In 2017, Dr. Michaud was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery and Perioperative Care at UT Dell Medical School.
Dr. Michaud was a registered nurse for several years before starting medical school. In his own words, “I took somewhat of a scenic route to becoming a physician, but also an important one. It’s one that I know was instrumental in helping me become a more compassionate and caring physician towards my patients. I really wish there was a magical pill or surgery that would take away all chronic pain. Sadly it’s not here yet. My guarantee to you, as our patient, however, is to use my training, skills and knowledge to help decrease your pain, improve your function and your quality of life.”
Dr. Paterno is double board certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology. He received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, With Honors, and With Distinction. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine degree also from Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Paterno completed his residency training in Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital. He continued further specialization training with an Interventional Pain Management fellowship at Harvard's Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, recently recognized by the American Academy of Pain Medicine as one of the top pain management fellowships in the country.
Dr. Paterno has authored publications in clinical research and the basic sciences related to spinal fixation biomechanics as well as prolonged inflammatory responses in tissue injury. He has also authored textbook chapters on radiofrequency nerve ablation, facial pain, imaging of spinal pain generators, and neuromodulation implantable pain therapies.
Dr. Paterno has extensive experience treating all forms of chronic pain using the latest advances in comprehensive pain management. He has a special interest in Implantable Neuromodulation Pain Therapies, Spinal Pain, Cancer Related Pain, and Sports Injury/Musculoskeletal pain. Prior to joining Advanced Pain Care, Dr Paterno practiced in Seattle Washington where he was named a Top Doctor by Seattle Met Magazine from 2015-2017.
Dr. Daniel Peterson finished his residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1994 and has been in private practice in Austin since that time. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Peterson has served as chief of staff at University Medical Center Brackenridge and is deeply involved in the quality improvement process. He has broad interests in neurosurgery including brain tumors, aneurysms, pituitary surgery, and degenerative disorders of the spine. He has recently completed an IDE Study with an artificial cervical disc.
Dr. Peterson has played an active role in neurological clinical research and has served as a clinical assistant professor at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He currently holds the title of Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. His professional affiliations include the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Daniel Peterson completed medical school at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and his internship and residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Victor M. Taylor, M.D. DABA, is board certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He graduated from Amarillo High School and received a bachelor of science degree from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. Dr. Taylor started medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine at the age of 38. He received his M.D. from Tech in 2005 and stayed in Lubbock for residency in Anesthesiology at University Medical Center. During residency Dr. Taylor served as co-chief resident.
Dr. Taylor was fortunate to train at Texas Tech International Pain Institute home to some of the leading pain physicians in the United States. During his residency and fellowship Dr. Taylor contributed to the peer reviewed literature and authored a textbook chapter in Clinical Pain Management 2nd edition. His original research in collaboration with Ralph Justiz, M.D. won first place at the Gulf Area Anesthesiology Residents Research Conference. During his fellowship Dr. Taylor received the Medtronic Pain Fellowship Educational Grant.
From 2010 through 2018 Dr. Taylor was the founder and Medical Director of Amarillo Interventional Pain Management. He is excited to join Advanced Pain Care. Joining this growing interdisciplinary group will open new avenues of treatment as well as improve efficiency. The main reason he joined the group is that they are really a nice group of people on the right path to excellence.
Dr. Taylor is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He has served as mentor for ACAL students interested in careers in healthcare. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Potter-Randal County Medical Society and served on the admissions committee of Texas Tech School of Medicine.
Dr. Taylor has been married to Laura Taylor since 1988. They are big fans of the Poodle dog and currently serve as domestic caregivers for a lake poodle. Dr. Taylor enjoys reading and writing fiction. He was born in Amarillo and never wanted to live anywhere else.
Dr. Amanda Trout is an Anesthesiologist and fellowship-trained Pain Management physician. Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Dr. Trout graduated from the University of Alaska with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. Dr. Trout received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, California. She studied Anesthesia at Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and
went on to complete her Interventional Pain Management fellowship at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
Dr. Trout is trained in spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal pump management, and various pain management techniques. She is a member of the North American Neuromodulation Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, American Society of Anesthesiology, American Academy of Osteopathy, and the American Diabetes Association.
In her spare time, Dr. Trout enjoys spending time with my family, organic gardening, Tai Chi, fishing, camping, hiking, and crocheting and she is so excited to join the Amarillo community.
Dr. Robert Wills received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas, graduating summa cum laude, before obtaining his Medical Degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then completed a three-year surgical residency at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, followed by an anesthesiology residency at Virginia Mason medical Center in Seattle, Washington, a program widely recognized for pain management training and regional anesthesia. Dr. Wills served as the program’s Chief Resident during his third year at VM.
Dr. Wills began practicing pain management in Austin in 1996, and now joins Advanced Pain Care after founding Austin Pain Associates in May 2002. Dr. Wills looks forward to furthering his vision of treating patients suffering from chronic pain syndromes in an interdisciplinary, comprehensive setting.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Wills has focused his business expertise on developing and managing several ambulatory surgery centers, played a vital role in the successful development and operation of medical start-up ventures and continues to work aggressively in the medical venture arena in his roles as co-founder of Arise Healthcare, and member of the advisory board of an Austin-based medical device company.
Dr. Wills is raising four children with his wife Danielle, who owns and operates a local gymnastics and tumbling business. Two of his children are twins. He and his family enjoy boating on Lake Austin and Lake Travis. Dr. Wills also enjoys fishing, travel, and golf.
Raphael Ye, DO, is a Board Certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician. Dr. Ye joined Advanced Pain Care after finishing his Pain Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He was raised in Brooklyn, New York and attended New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Ye is married and has one daughter. He enjoys snowboarding, cycling, science fiction, and college sports. Dr. Ye is a member of the following associations: American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Academy of Pain Medicine, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Dr. Ye opted to specialize in Pain Management because he is drawn to the patient-physician relationship, the specialized knowledge and skills to treat the complexities of pain, and his personal gratification of helping patients with their debilitating pain.

Dr. White graduated with honors from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from The University of North Texas Health Sciences Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Worth, Texas. He then completed his internship at Rocky Mountain Hospital followed by the completion of residency training in Anesthesiology at The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. He later completed the Medical Acupuncture program through The University of California at Los Angeles.
Dr. White was board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
He was a member of the American Academy of Pain Management, the International Spine Intervention Society, the International Neuromodulation Society, the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County Medical Society, and the Texas Pain Society Board of Directors.
Dr. White was a past President of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association – District 7, and the Austin Pain Society, the local chapter of the Texas Pain Society. He practiced Anesthesiology and Pain Management in the Austin area since 1983.
Dr. White will be missed by all.
