As a long time self-explorer in the many ways to make a difference in this world – both big and small, Lisa Skalla, a licensed clinical social worker and registered yoga teacher at the 500 level, incorporates mindfulness, creative expressive arts, movement and play into her work with clients. She received a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin, and has over 10 years professional experience working in a variety of settings, with individuals and in groups. Prior to moving back to the Austin area in 2015, she spent several years working with survivors of violence and trauma in the Chicagoland area, many of whom were also living with chronic pain in their bodies. In order to best serve clients, Lisa was inspired to continue receiving additional professional trainings in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, art therapy, yoga therapy, and mindfulness. She continues to seek out specialized trainings in the mind-body connection to this day. Lisa is here to work alongside clients as a collaborative witness and guide. She sees herself as a guest to a client's own process, story, and life.
